The Narrabri Shire community will learn the fate of lockdown orders well before Saturday, according to Deputy Premier John Barilaro.

Mr Barilaro has been addressing regional media outlets, including The Courier, in a daily online news conference.

Speaking at Tuesday’s virtual press gathering, also attended by Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Mr Barilaro said the Central West was the NSW government’s number one concern.

“We are aware of how interconnected these regional communities are,” he said.

Mr Barilaro’s comments came as further cases were identified in Dubbo and other western NSW local government areas.

Not included in figures announced at Tuesday morning’s pandemic update was one case each in Gilgandra and Narromine as well as one further out west at Broken Hill.

NSW Health reported that the Gilgandra and Narromine cases weren’t infectious in the community.

Yesterday, an additional 21 cases were announced for Dubbo while Bourke and Mudgee had one case each detected.

Cases in the Hunter New England Local Health District continue to be predominantly centred around the Hunter area, in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland.

No cases had been detected in the north western areas of the health district as of Wednesday morning.
