The end of lockdown has brought with it some sense of normalcy, especially among community groups who are now able to start meeting once again.

One local organisation that’s set to benefit from eased restrictions is the Namoi Women’s Shed.

With constructions delaying the shed’s reopening to early October, the ladies were excited to gather together for a creative night at the Narrabri Community College this month.

The group of local women have had a number of meetings at the college office to create pink placemat tiles for Pink Up Namoi.

The campaign, which will run across the region with the support of the Narrabri, Wee Waa and Boggabri chambers of commerce, is well underway.

It will raise funds and awareness for breast cancer, with proceeds going to the McGrath Foundation.

A highlight of the campaign is a Pink Street Dinner Party to be held this Saturday.

Special guests, auctions, competitions and raffles are some of the highlights set to feature throughout the evening event.

Corporate and community tables are part of the evening which will feature lovely pink decorations made by the Namoi Women’s Shed.

“We are proud to be part of this wonderful event,” Community College coordinator Rachael Anderson, said.

“It has been a huge effort from the ladies and the placemats look fantastic.”

The group offered additional support to the McGrath Foundation, each donating $20 to take part in the tile-making fun.

The small group has created a total of 120 painted placemat tiles, with their efforts starting in late September and finishing recently.

They were kept motivated by coffee and delicious treats baked and delivered to the class by Kath Davis and Max Pringle of the local Red Cross.
