With the support of many local businesses and the Rotary Club of Narrabri, the Pink Up Namoi campaign is continuing full-steam ahead as we make our way through the beginning of breast cancer awareness month.

From car magnets, to bin stickers, a movie night, all types of clothing, main street shopfronts and even dogs – Narrabri Shire is blushing with anticipation as the Pink Street Dinner Party approaches.

In addition to the bra decorating contest that began at the Monterey Café last month, there is also a similar competition in Boggabri on display at Hassab’s Fashion.

Tickets for the Pink Up Namoi monster raffle, featuring a pink Faber Brumby II toolbox, a holiday donated by Pat Carberry and family in memory of Christine, and many more prizes such pink merchandise are on sale now.

The holiday voucher is the newest addition to the ever-growing list of raffle prizes, with one lucky winner being treated to a 10-day luxury trip to the Gold Coast.

Tickets can be purchased at the Narrabri RSL, Lisa Dee’s, Westland Shop, The Tourist Hotel, Meat On Maitland, Tiemens Creative, Faber’s Weld n Tools, The Courier, The Wilga Hotel and Phoenix two390 Gym.

And for locals looking to get into the spirit before the raffle is drawn, there’s plenty of options.

Continental Eagle has donated themed pink socks to go towards fundraising efforts.

And a collection of pink caps and embroidered shirts can be ordered at Turner’s Signs.

Meanwhile, colourful workwear including high-vis, hats and work boot covers are being sold at Hip Pocket Workwear & Safety.

And Sign Print Stitch is selling a selection of Pink Up Namoi stickers.

But it isn’t just the merchandise shops you’ll see pinking up around town.

The Wilga Hotel is even taking it a step further, hosting a whole Pink Up Namoi meat raffle day at their establishment later this month.

But that’s not all – shopfronts are getting in on the colorful fun this month too.

Perhaps you’ve noticed the brilliant pink cakes on display at Watson’s Kitchen, or maybe the pink guitars and technology accessories in the C&D Electronics shopfront, what about the pink posters plastered in the Ewing Real Estate window?

In Boggabri there’s pink shopfronts on either side of the main street, with Jacob & Anderson, Boggy Book Exchange & Giftware, and Boggabri Hardware and Rural Supplies all dressed to impress.

These colourful displays are all part of a window dressing competition, open to any business in the Narrabri Shire.

To enter, simply jazz up your shopfront with as much pink as you can and contact Karen Kirkby (0428 949 500) to let her know your business wants to go into the running.

A Pink Up Namoi team will be judging the submissions, with the winning shopfront crowned at the Pink Street Dinner Party on the evening of Saturday, October 23.

Like many local people, campaign organiser Karen Kirkby is eagerly looking forward to the big main street event.

“The local response has been incredible, we’ve almost completely sold out of tables for the Pink Street Dinner,” she said.

“But if you’re still interested in attending, don’t hesitate to reach out and I can place you on our waiting list.”

Ms Kirkby even popped in to Narrabri’s radio station, 2MaxFM, last week to chat about the event.

“It’s been absolutely lovely to have the local media supporting us, so we can get the word out about this wonderful campaign,” she said.

And if you’re worried about missing out on that Pink Up dinner party, or feel like you’re left out of the window dressing fun – fear not, there’s more ways for you (and your four-legged friends!) to get involved.

The highly-anticipated Pink Up Your Pooch fundraiser was set to take place this weekend at the Narrabri West Lake, but has sadly been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

A range of local businesses are supporting the McGrath Foundation dog event, donating prizes such as a pink dog kennel from Barden’s Pumps and a sizable esky thanks to Nutrien Ag.

The Pink Up Your Pooch event is set to go ahead as planned, with a barbecue breakfast and raffles, in December.

Keep up to date with The Courier for more Pink Up Namoi updates.
