Nominations open for Lillian Hulbert Memorial Prize

The Lillian Hulbert Memorial Prize for 2022 is now open for nominations.

It is awarded annually to a young person who was born in the Narrabri District, is between the ages of 15 and 18 years and has shown outstanding achievements through an act of bravery or heroism, charitable work in the Narrabri district or academic or sporting achievement.

The prize was established in 2007 by Thomas Whipp Hulbert in memory of his late mother, Lillian Hulbert.

It focuses on encouraging excellence and helping young people with their chosen career path.

Earlier this year, the prize for 2021 was awarded to Narrabri High School student Amara Grant, the daughter of Jennifer and Tim Grant.

Amara was nominated in the charitable activities and the education and academic achievement categories.

Mayor Ron Campbell has encouraged the community to nominate deserving young people in recognition of their efforts.

“This is a wonderful initiative that has rewarded deserving youth of the Narrabri District annually since 2008,” he said.

“This memorial prize which has generously been provided by the Hulbert family is a great opportunity to celebrate the positive contributions many young individuals make to our community who may not always get the recognition they truly deserve.”
