A highlight of Narrabri View Club’s monthly lunch meeting held on Wednesday, October 27 was a presentation by guest speaker Bec Cope, who is the current Narrabri Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural (PA&H) Association Secretary.

Bec is also involved in the regional PA&H agricultural show’s organisation, the ‘Northwest Show Group’, which recently held its AGM in Narrabri.

Bec’s presentation covered an update of the latest ‘Group 14’ area activities which are focused on 2022 with the hopes that perhaps the group’s forthcoming shows can take place with funding grants on offer to several towns which were forced to cancel shows scheduled for 2021 due to COVID regulations.

Additionally, Bec has taken an active part in the organisation ‘Next Gen’, a youth focused extension of the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW (the ASC) which supports the inclusion of young people in the region’s show committees.

She has also been elected as an ASC delegate for 2022.

View Club members thoroughly enjoyed Bec’s presentation which clearly showed her commitment to Narrabri’s local show and the Group 14 organisation which brings delegates from the regional show committees together.

There is no doubt that the support and promotion of agricultural shows is a vital component of rural community life.

The meeting was held in the Narrabri RSL’s boardroom with 16 members of Narrabri View Club present.

Plans were discussed for the national convention to be staged in Adelaide 2022 following the COVID regulation enforced cancellation of the 2021 convention.

The View Club’s collaboration with the Smith Family, which profiles and gives financial support to disadvantaged students in our region, was reviewed.

Club delegate Olwyn Campey’s report from the region delegates’ conference held recently in Gunnedah was also tabled.
