Narrabri High School students have well and truly felt the impact of COVID – perhaps none more so than seniors.

The current Year 12 cohort had their last year meeting on Friday, October 29, with their year advisor Mr Berghan.

The students then had a short study period, with a week off from school, before their final HSC exams which started on Tuesday, November 9.

The exam period will run for just under a month, wrapping up with the last tests on Friday, December 3.

With indoor event numbers still limited, the traditional special assembly at the school hall wasn’t possible this year.

However, that doesn’t mean their final day wasn’t special.

At the end of their final year meeting on Friday, each graduate was given a wellness pack, put together by the school.

The giftpack included selfcare items like toiletries, lucky pair of socks, delicious treats, career resources and more.

Narrabri High’s David Pierce said it was the school’s way of wishing the Year 12s well.

“It’s been a pretty turbulent year for these students, so we wanted to make this gesture to show them that we’re thinking of them,” he said.

“Completing the HSC in a pandemic is no easy feat and, with the stress they’re under, the wellbeing of this year group really needs to be considered.

“We hope these care packages help remind the students to prioritise their health at a time like this.”

The Courier wishes the graduating class of 2021 all the best for their HSC exams.
