The Rotary Club of Narrabri has announced three finalists for its coveted Pride of Workmanship Award.

Eight people were nominated this year with the nominees coming from a variety of industries and businesses.

A winner will be announced at a dinner ceremony being held this Thursday night.

This year’s finalists are Cassie Boyd, station manager of 2Max FM, Nicola Onus, technical officer at the University of Sydney’s Plant Breeding Institute and Ben Simshauser, web developer at Tiemens Creative.

Mrs Boyd has worked at 2Max FM for four years and is described as a valuable asset to the station.

“Her commitment to the station and its volunteers has been outstanding,” her nomination read.

Fellow finalist Ms Onus has been described as a quiet achiever who has positively contributed to the PBI’s site and its culture.

“Her consistently high level of effort and flexible nature has greatly benefited many research outcomes across multiple projects,” her nomination read.

Mr Simshauser has been a team member at Tiemens Creative for four years and is described as a highly valued member of the business.

“He goes above and beyond to produce work which is of a very high standard,” his nomination read.

In addition to his professional pursuits, his nomination highlighted additional community work, helping with events including the Narrabri Show, Rotary’s Science and Engineering Challenge and other Rotary events.

Other nominees for the award were Blake Jarrett, sports journalist at The Courier, Aaron Birditt, automation engineer at Narrabri Coal, Kristy Sims, customer service manager at Woolworths, Claire Allen, assistant principal at Narrabri Public School and Carol ‘Dos’ Bruce, senior venue attendant at The Crossing Theatre.

President of the Rotary Club of Narrabri Darrell Tiemens praised the quality of the nominations received for this year’s award.

“It’s heartening to hear about the many people who go above and beyond in their professional pursuits,” he said.

“Rotary is honoured to celebrate their contributions to the community.”

If people know of someone they would like to nominate for the award, Mr Tiemens encouraged people to enter them when nominations open next year for the 2022 Pride of Workmanship Award.
