Narrabri Rotary will hold a historic changeover dinner on Saturday.

Grahame Herbert will hand on his president’s baton to incoming president Darrell Tiemens.

Mr Tiemens takes over leadership of the club in a milestone year – the 75th anniversary.

The club anticipates holding a historic 75th anniversary dinner later in the year, perhaps in November.

That anniversary will be an opportunity to reflect on decades of service.

Narrabri Rotary has a long history of achievement in the Narrabri community.

Hundreds of Narrabri district men and women have come though Rotary ranks and have left their mark on people and the community.

Rotary is a community of quiet achievers.

“We work locally, and nationally and internationally,” said Mr Tiemens.

“We are developing the future through our young people. Education of our youth is one of the pillars of Rotary’s endeavours.

“And while Rotary is building our young people’s capabilities we are also undertaking material projects in Narrabri district.

“Going back decades, these have included the Narrabri Airport, an early post war project which the club undertook soon after it was chartered in November 1946, through myriad projects over 75 years, some of which people may not be aware.

“Cameron Park was developed by Rotary, the Narrabri town clock was re-located and built by Rotary, the Narrabri skate park, the barbecue areas near Panton Cottage, the exercise stations at Narrabri Lake are just some of the Rotary projects. And internationally, Narrabri Rotary supports many major projects.”
