With COVID restrictions putting a pause on school sport, Wednesday afternoons are looking a little different at Narrabri High School.

The focus has been on wellness, given the impact the pandemic has had on students both physically and mentally.

All students – except seniors, who are using their Wednesday afternoons to study for the HSC – have been assigned a personal workbook.

It’s filled with wellbeing activities and is to be worked through during sport time.

The school has secured two different journals, one for years seven and eight and another for years nine and ten.

The workbook activities focus on areas such as self-awareness, self-management, relationships, decision making and social awareness.

The students learn about subjects like mindfulness, goal setting, bullying, gratitude, anxiety, happiness, resilience, risk-taking, selfcare and more.

It’s expected the workbooks will help high school students as they continue to feel the impact of COVID restrictions.
