Local families and friends celebrated the start of 2022 in true summer style at Yarrie Lake, on New Year’s Day.

Skiing, paddle boarding, riding donuts and floating on top of colourful, inflatable unicorns were the most popular water activities.

“It was a lovely way to spend the New Year and the kids really enjoyed themselves, and are so happy the lake is full and they are able to go skiing,” said Wee Waa resident Bec Dewson.

Yarrie Lake is one of the region’s most popular tourist attractions but during the drought was dry for years, and wasn’t open for water-skiing until March 2020 after the rain.
