The cast of ‘Celtic Illusion Reimagined’ performed to a full house at The Crossing Theatre on Tuesday, February 15.

This exhilarating production fuses unparalleled art forms with spellbinding illusions, entrancing music and stunning choreography.

The performance of traditional Irish dancing was infused with a contemporary edge, including elements of Fosse and Michael Jackson.

Bob Fosse was an American dancer, choreographer, and director who revolutionized Broadway musicals with his distinct style of dance in the 1940’s.

The action was interspersed with haunting soloist performances featuring vocals, flute, violin and bodhrán. The bodhrán is a frame drum of Irish origin.

Starring the former lead dancer of Michael Flatley’s ‘Lord of the Dance’ and Star Illusionist Anthony Street, and dancer Georgia May, the pair performed both dance and illusion to an ecstatic audience.

Anthony and Georgia lead a cast of dancers recruited from renowned productions across the world, including ‘Lord of the Dance’ and ‘Riverdance’.

A former street illusionist, Anthony joined the Australian Irish Dance company shortly before 2000, going on to perform at numerous corporate events and venues including the MCG, Hamer Hall (Melbourne Arts Centre) and the Sydney Opera House.

At the age of 19 he set off on a five-month tour that would turn into an eight-year career travelling the world, including a residency in Dublin with ‘Dance of Desire’ as well as tours of France and Germany, before being cast as principal dancer for Michael Flatley’s ‘Lord of the Dance’.

Following these theatrical accomplishments, Anthony’s next dream was to create his own production, and after months of preparation, in November 2011 ‘Celtic Illusion’ was born.

The popular stage show is performing its second round of production, ‘Celtic Illusion Reimagined’ to sell-out audiences across Australia, with Anthony performing the multi-faceted roles of director, producer, choreographer and lead dancer.
