Narrabri Little Athletics Club trio Jessie Simpson, Caitlin Evans and Matthew Evans have all qualified for the 2021-22 Little Athletics State Championships following success at the Regional Champs event earlier this year.

In late January, five Narrabri Little Athletics Club summer athletes took part at the Regional Championships, which were held at the Tamworth Athletics Track.

The Narrabri team included Jessie, Caitlin and Matthew as well as Joel and Isabelle Leehy.

Competitors travelled from across the Mid Coast, North Coast and New England/North West to compete for a chance to represent the region at the Little Athletics State Championships in Sydney on Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20.

The Narrabri athletes excelled in what were hot and humid conditions on the day.

Jessie qualified for state in shot put, Caitlin progressed in high jump and discus, and Matthew qualified in discus and javelin.

Joel and Isabelle both enjoyed themselves at the carnival and they produced some excellent results in their events.

Results for the Narrabri athletes were as follows:
Jessie Simpson – third in shot put, fourth in discus, sixth in javelin.
Caitlin Evans – second in high jump, second in discus, third in javelin, third in long jump, fifth in triple jump.
Matthew Evans – second in discus, second in javelin, third in high jump, third in shot put.
