Impressive Baan Baa memorial sets scene for moving dawn service

A large crowd of more than 300 gathered at the Baan Baa memorial under the rare alignment of Saturn, Mars, Venus and Jupiter to honour and remember veterans for their service and sacrifice.

Narrabri band members Denis Harvey, Sarah Smith and Rowan Smith marched down the street to the impressive Baan Baa memorial and set the scene for the moving commemoration.

Steve Eather, president of the Boggabri RSL Sub-branch, was the master-of-ceremonies. Cooper Shields offered the prayer of thanksgiving, Josie Byrne offered the prayer for the Queen and George Wannan offered the prayer for the Nation.

Rev Stone delivered the Commemoration address. The Last Post was sounded by bugler Sarah Smith and Tim Kennedy raised and lowered the flag.

After the service, the crowd moved over to the Baan Baa Hotel where they enjoyed breakfast and a few yarns.
