Narrabri Shire Council has installed new automatic doors at The Crossing Theatre and Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre, enhancing the accessibility of these facilities.

Narrabri Shire mayor Ron Campbell said the upgrade was made possible with funding from the NSW government’s 2021 Community Building Partnership Program.

“Automatic doors at these buildings ensures easy access for everyone, including pram and wheelchair users and parcel deliveries,” he said.

The improvement is also in line with council’s recently adopted 2022/2026 Disability Inclusion Action Plan, which aims to actively reduce barriers in the community.

“We are working towards a strong and equitable community that is accessible and inclusive of everyone,” Cr Campbell said.

The Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre received $5000 for the improvements, while $10,000 was allocated to The Crossing Theatre, representing a 50 per cent co-contribution for the project.

“This represents a wonderful investment in local infrastructure that improves the level of service offered by Narrabri Shire Council to the public and delivers overall benefit to the community.”
