Sunny conditions and strong buyer support made for a successful clearing sale at Rosewood, Stoney Creek Road.

The grazing property, owned by Stuart Park, had been previously sold by Nutrien Harcourts Narrabri, with the clearing sale also run by the local Nutrien team.

Nutrien Harcourts Narrabri’s Paul Thomas praised Mr Park on the presentation of his equipment.

“It was very well laid out,” Mr Thomas said.

“Even though he had some of the equipment for a while, it was very well looked after and well presented.”

An estimated crowd of 150 people attended the sale. The Rotary Club of Narrabri was also in attendance with its barbecue.

Mr Thomas said most of the attendees had come with the expectation of buying.

Crowd numbers, however, were impacted by the start of harvest.

“The result was really good. There was good competition,” Mr Thomas said.

Buyer interest spanned a large area, from Wagga Wagga in the south to Southern Queensland.

Among some of the top buys were a John Deere front-end loader, a Case tractor, a Duncan combine, a Fiat dozer and a Dean tipping trailer.

Mr Thomas said the Rosewood clearing sale was unique in a way, as the district doesn’t commonly see sales at grazing properties.

“It had a lot of equipment for livestock handling as well as livestock feeding,” he said.

Demand for second-hand equipment also continues, with extensive waits still in place for new machinery.

“New machinery is harder to get, which has increased demand for second-hand machinery,” Mr Thomas said.

The former owner of Rosewood, Mr Park, is retiring from his 1300-acre property to live in Narrabri. He first bought the property in 1971 while living at nearby Gowrie until moving to Rosewood in 1971.
