The Courier – Thursday, October 17, 1968:
Today was ruby anniversary day for Namoi Group of the Country Women’s Association.
The anniversary conference of delegates was held at Bellata this morning.
The guest speaker was Mrs WH Cullen OBE, who has just returned from the Associated Country Women of the World congress in Michigan.
Delegates from every branch attended the 40th birthday function.
Namoi Group of CWA was formed in 1928.
Prior to 1928, a huge area of north western NSW was known as north-west group.
Conference decided to split the zone, because of the long distance delegates were forced to travel and branches adjacent to Narrabri and Gunnedah became known as Namoi Group.
Branches in the Moree and Inverell area became Gwydir group.
The conference was opened by the president of Namoi Group Mrs CV Hann at Courallie Park at 9.30am.
