Saturday was open day at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 229 Boggabri.
Firefighter Declan Swain was cooking sausages when The Courier arrived.
He said that at the recent coal information day they had lots of children wanting to climb into the fire truck and it was a bit quieter today but they were hopeful that people would take away some safety information and for the little ones to get to know the staff.
