A lunch was enjoyed by a small group of friends to farewell Mrs Judy McMaster at The Crossing Theatre on Thursday, May 11.

It was a celebration of a lifetime in the district for Mrs McMaster.

Long-time resident Mrs McMaster (née McDouall) has moved away from the township of Narrabri this month with her daughter Marg Lloyd to be closer to family in Bundaberg.

Born in Balonne Street 92-years-ago in her grandparents’ home, Mrs McMaster has been a well-known and much-loved character for more than nine decades.

The history of Mrs McMaster’s family in the Narrabri region dates even further back with her maternal grandfather Angus McCalister a practising dentist, and her father Creighton McDouall moving to the district from the family property ‘Ulum’ in Upper Horton.

Her father Mr McDouall met and married Jean McCalister, and the couple lived on the property ‘Bald Hill’, Narrabri and raised their family, children Judy and younger brother Peter (dec).

Mrs McMaster spent her secondary years boarding at Sydney school Abbotsleigh.

After meeting a young lad by the name of Allan McMaster, a romantic courtship ensued, and the pair were married on March 5, 1954, and set up their home at ‘Blairmore’ Bellata.

There they welcomed three children, Stuart, Marg, and Cath.

The couple later sold the property at Bellata and moved to ‘Violet Downs’ near Maules Creek.

In their autumn years the couple retired and moved into Narrabri.

Mr McMaster sadly passed away aged 83 years, in September 2013.

Mrs McMaster was involved with many ventures in Narrabri and has enjoyed a wonderful life with many lifelong friends and some wonderful memories.

She sends her very best wishes, gratitude and love to the many people who have shared time with her over the years.

“The support we have received especially over the last few years from not only friends and acquaintances, but doctors, Nandebri Home Nursing and family, simply words are not enough to express our gratitude,” said Mrs McMaster.

“Thank you, Narrabri. Farewell … and here’s to new adventures.”
