Sensational Soup, Sandwich and Slice Day hosted by Wee Waa CWA

Wet weather didn’t dampen spirits at a recent Country Women’s Association gathering, held inside the cosy and warm Wee Waa rooms.

“We really had a good day,” said the CWA Wee Waa Branch president Denise Robinson.

“And we had plenty of workers too,” Mrs Robinson added, thanking all those who attended and contributed to the gathering’s success.

“Three of the ladies made the soups and the sandwiches were made fresh that morning too by the CWA ladies.

“We had such a good response to the slices.

“We also had a few ladies who weren’t CWA ladies make slice and tarts, which was very generous of them.

“Everyone had a great time, they all complimented on the food.

“We opened it up to outside (takeaway) orders too for people who were working but couldn’t attend.

“As soon as we said, ‘homemade soup’, people were interested.

“It was a good thing to do to get the community together.”

Mrs Robinson said another highlight was a visit from two lovely ladies from the CWA’s Samford branch, who were travelling through and called in on the day.

“It was very nice; they came in and introduced themselves and had a look around and got a few photos.”
