A packed auditorium at The Crossing Theatre applauded the announcement that The Wilga Hotel was voted ‘number one’ in the hospitality category at the Narrabri Business Awards on September 14.
The top award recognised the ongoing status of The Wilga as a popular pub, a key social and recreational venue at Narrabri West.
“Thanks Narrabri for your support. We aim to keep our service and facilities standards high – and will be offering exciting new features in the future,” the Wilga team said.
These new features will include live country and western music from our talented local performers every Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm in the beer garden – ‘Nashville of the West’ – and roast dinner available in the Bistro every Sunday afternoon from 5pm.
The Wilga plays an important role in the West and wider community, not only as a social hub but as a generous host for many local charity and fund raising events.
The Wilga was originally built in 1971 and new owners re-launched the popular pub in July 2022 with a major makeover inside and out.
The iconic Wilga entered its new era after comprehensive re-design, renovations, refurbishment and fit out.
The Wilga development represented a significant local investment by the local owners and is a strong vote of confidence in the town’s future.
With the re-launch in 2022 the Wilga became a new hotel, but maintained its country traditions as a welcoming, family venue.
The bar areas, bistro food service area and kitchen and five rooms of motel accommodation were completely re-designed and refurbished.
The bistro features a customer friendly dining and service layout opening onto the front courtyard and the Sports Bar offers an array of big screen televisions to provide all the sports action and entertainment.
The Cellarbrations drive-through bottle shop offers a comprehensive range of beers, wines and spirits.
The Wilga is a venue which fills an important role in Narrabri community life and is part of the an exciting future for our town and district.
