Melbourne Cup was celebrated in style at Narrabri venues, with people dressing up to enjoy an afternoon of marking the day that stops the nation.

For the punters, the cup race itself delivered a shock with Robbie Dolan riding Knight’s Choice to victory. It was also Dolan’s first time racing in the cup meet.
The five-year-old bay gelding drew long odds for Tuesday’s race, starting at $101 to claim the cup.
The two frontrunners – Vauban and Buckaroo – failed to make an impact in the race.
This year’s cup marked the 164th running of the cup.
