The village of Baan Baa is definitely punching above its weight in supplying community events suitable for all ages and stages.

Thanks to the NSW government Regional Youth Holiday Break Program, Baan Baa children have had the opportunity to attend a craft and games afternoon, free tennis clinics with Rod Kirk, and fun with art with Robyn Stieger.

Ellen McClung said more than 30 children recently attended the craft and game day and many of those attended the tennis clinics the following week where they learnt lots of tennis skills as well as forming new friendships.

This was followed by a summer fun community barbecue day where the young people had a water slide and free snow cones to keep cool, lots of activities for all ages and the official opening of the

Ooranga Preschool as well as the beautiful voice of Amarni Grace entertaining those present.

“Ooranga is excited to be opening a preschool program from term one, 2025 at the Baan Baa Community Hall,” Ooranga director, Leanne Pryor said.

“Ooranga is a mobile service which offers preschool programs, playgroup programs, toy library from Gunnedah, as well as a mobile toy library service.”

“Ooranga believes that every child should be able to access a quality learning program within their own community, and we focus on communities which do not have any access to other early programs and car programs.

“This aligns with our funding under the Mobile Preschool Funding Program. We offer this preschool program to children aged three to five years free of charge as per the funding we receive.”
