We’re excited to welcome Anna from Germany to Narrabri High School as part of a three-month Rotary Exchange program. Anna is currently in Year 10 and will be with us for the next three months, experiencing Australian school life, culture, and adventure.
Anna’s exchange is a special one — she is staying with the Faris family, whose daughter, Elizabeth, was an exchange student in Germany last year. Elizabeth was hosted by Anna’s family in Waldkraiburg, near Munich in Bavaria, and now it’s Anna’s turn to experience life in Australia.
The Narrabri Rotary Club is proudly hosting Anna during her stay, and she recently had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at one of their meetings.
She shared stories about her hometown and what it’s been like adjusting to life Down Under.
Before arriving in Narrabri, Anna enjoyed some sightseeing, including visits to Coogee Beach and the stunning Blue Mountains. She’s already fallen in love with the Aussie landscape.
“The landscape is so different in Australia — it has such wide-open spaces,” Anna said.
“When I saw my first kangaroo, I realised I really was in Australia!”
Anna is multilingual, speaking German, French, English, and a bit of Italian. She’s also a talented musician — she enjoys singing, playing piano, and is currently learning the saxophone.
This week, Anna officially began classes at Narrabri High School and is quickly settling in. We’re thrilled she’ll be joining her classmates on the upcoming Year 10 ski trip to Perisher next week — a true Aussie winter experience!
We’re so happy to have you here, Anna. Welcome to the Narrabri High community.
