Narrabri Touch’s 2025 season two competitions will relocate to Cooma Oval next week, with all 16 teams scheduled to play on the Monday of the October long weekend.
Matches have been contested under lights at Hogan Oval and Leitch Oval across the first seven rounds, but the arrival of daylight saving time will see the sun set later and allow matches to be played at Cooma Oval without any lighting being required.
There are 10 men’s teams and six ladies’ teams contesting this season’s competitions.
Teams will be split into their respective grades later in the year, and the grand finals will be held at Dangar Park on Monday, December 15.
All eyes were on a top-of-the-table round seven clash at Hogan Oval on Monday night as the two undefeated ladies’ teams went head-to-head. Those two teams were Specialised Civil Services and Many’s Contractors, who both entered the night on five-game winning streaks since they drew 1-1 back in round one.
Their round seven clash was almost as tight, but this time Specialised Civil Services got the job done as they beat Many’s Contractors 2-1 after both sides produced outstanding defensive efforts.
Toni Rae and Jesse Magner crossed for the two Specialised Civil Services tries, and the Many’s Contractors’ lone try was registered by Lidia Richards.
The other ladies’ matches contested in round seven were also nail-biters as the TJC Steelers defeated The FAFs 4-3 while Golfie Gobblers downed Hounddogs 6-3.
The round seven results saw Specialised Civil Services become the first ladies’ team this year to occupy outright first place on the competition ladder. They are now on 20 points, leading Many’s Contractors (18) by two.
TJC Steelers, Hounddogs and Golfie Gobblers have all won three games and lost their other four, and are all locked on 13 points in third to fifth place, respectively.
The FAFs are ranked sixth with seven points as they are still chasing their first win of the season.
Just like in the ladies’ competition, there is only one men’s team that remains undefeated after seven rounds. That team is Grumley Builders, who outscored the JWG Livewires 10-1 in a first-versus-last clash on Monday night to extend their winning streak to seven games as they moved to a maximum 21 competition points.
Other results on Monday night saw Up The Middle outscore Reg Reagans 7-4, Cougars edge out DTA Timber Lumberjacks 6-5, Gee Bangers take down Lations 10-5, and Win Or Booze beat Ballbusters 4-3.
Ranked second to 10th, respectively, after seven rounds ahead of the move to Cooma Oval on Monday are Up The Middle (18), Gee Bangers (17), Lations (16), Win Or Booze (15), Cougars (14), DTA Timber Lumberjacks (13), Ballbusters (12), Reg Reagans (7) and JWG Livewires (7).
Reg Reagans and the JWG Livewires will be searching for their first wins of the competition in round eight, while all other teams have at least two.
