Boots were tappin’ and drinks were flowin’ right to the dance floor, at the Bellata, Edgeroi and Gurley Matron’s Ball on Saturday, September 13 which was held at the Bellata Memorial Hall.

An impressive crowd of 240 keen attendees entered the Bellata Hall, dressed in their finest attire with a touch of their own country flair.

Matron’s Ball committee member Nikki Lampe was amazed to see such a great crowd from Narrabri to Moree and all the little places in between.

“Once again, a fabulous night and so lovely to catch up with the local people, young and old,” Nikki said.

“This year’s ball was probably one of our biggest for a long time and we are just pleased that it was such a well-supported community event.

“Our theme, ‘Cowboy Black Tie’ was very well received by those who attended, and it was great to see everyone add their own little fun twist to their attire.

“From a simple hat and boots to the ultimate ranch bling, everyone got in the country spirit.”

Nikki is just one of the 16 matron committee members, who was involved in the setting up and closing down of the bi-annual event.

“In the lead up to the ball, we spent lots of time setting up the hall and all of the decorations for our long grazing tables with a spot to sit for everyone.

“It was also great to see so many matrons have guests from far away attend and mix in with all our locals.”

A Moree band entertained.

“The band were fantastic and with their repertoire of modern chart singles and old school classics, there was something for everyone of all ages.

“My highlight was just watching all the dancing and the band’s involvement with the crowd,” she said.

As for food, the matrons committee had that covered, with catering from Moree delivering a fantastic and delicious spread, from nibbles to a sit down main meal.

“Though we do get a food catering business to cover dinner, we do love to involve our matrons, so they bring a dessert.

“This was the perfect way to end the night, well for those not too busy dancing with champagne glasses in the air!”
