Local riders Mitchell Brodigan, Billy Brodigan, Jack Dickinson, Jason Dixon, Kate Dixon, Adam Hatton, Guy Tribe, Fletch Williams and Rhys Mortimer will be saddling up this Melbourne Cup Day, jockeying to win the inaugural Wee Waa Cup.

Whether you’re a seasoned punter, racing enthusiast or just looking for a good day out, you don’t want to miss Wee Waa’s very own ‘race that stops the nation’.

So, book your ticket and head down to the Wee Waa Showground, where the Wee Waa and District Pony Club will be hosting what’s sure to be a magnificent and memorable Melbourne Cup Day luncheon.

Locals are being encouraged to grab their fabulous friends – from near and far – and buy a bunch of tickets before they sell-out.
The action-packed celebration will kick off at 11am on Tuesday, November 4 and include a delicious two-course indoor luncheon along with an afternoon of entertainment, with plenty of thrills and hopefully not too many spills.

Attending the event is also a great way to back the brilliant Wee Waa and District Pony Club by supporting the community group’s major fundraiser – so, giddy up for a galloping good time.

And don’t forget to dress to impress for the hotly contested Fashions on the Field competition, there are some fabulous prizes on offer thanks to some generous sponsors so here’s your chance to get dressed up, dust off your best brim or finest fascinator, or if you’re looking for an excuse to purchase a new outfit – Melbourne Cup Day is it.

As well as the must-see live horse races (keep your eyes peeled for the local riders), there will be novelty events and everyone’s favourite – sweeps.

Attendees can sit back, relax and barrack hard in front of a big screening broadcasting all the fun, flutter and frivolity from Flemington racecourse. There will also be an outdoor bar and canteen with cool refreshments and EFTPOS available on the day.

Wee Waa and District Pony Club praised the event’s sponsors for making the day happen, “This small town is amazing; we have received such generous support from the community.”
