Narrabri Dolphins Water Polo Club’s 2025/26 season competition finally resumed on Friday as three matches were contested at the Narrabri Aquatic Centre.
Two rounds either side of the Christmas and New Year break saw all matched declared draws, one due to weather and the other three due to teams having multiple players away during the holidays.
The last round that was contested was round seven back on December 5, and the round 12 matches last week kick-started the race to the finals, which will be held in March.
First-placed side PAB Power extended their lead at the top to two games following a narrow 10-9 victory in a top-of-the-table clash against the Nutrien Crocs.
The Power led 3-2 at quarter-time in that clash before the Crocs hit back in the second term to outscore the leaders three goals to one and take a 5-4 advantage into half-time. The Crocs had extended their lead to 8-6 at the three-quarter-time break after netting three goals to two in the third term, but PAB powered home to victory in the fourth as they outscored the Nutrien side four goals to one to clinch a 10-9 victory.
The other match saw the SierraTek Sea Snakes climb off the bottom of the ladder with a 13-4 win against the Santos Sea Pigs.
The Sea Snakes entered the match just one win behind the third-placed Sea Pigs, and they got the upper hand early as they led their opponents 4-2 at quarter-time. They then piled on four more goals while only conceding one in the second term to lead 8-3 at half-time before the two sides scored a goal each in the third quarter. That saw the Sea Snakes enter the final quarter with a 9-4 lead, and they made sure of the result with a solid fourth quarter as they outscored the Sea Pigs four goals to none to prevail 13-4 and leapfrog into third place.
The two junior sides once again kicked off the proceedings on Friday, and they both entered round 12 locked on 11 points following three wins, five draws and three losses each.
Nothing could separate them again as the Club Narrabri Marlins Bellvue Titans drew 7-all after the score was locked up at 5-all heading into the final quarter.
