February was a busy month for Narrabri Clay Target Club members who travelled to compete at shoots and also took part in their first home monthly shoot of the year.

First up was a road trip for the Glen Innes Clay Target Club’s exciting two-day shoot on Saturday and Sunday, February 7 and 8, at which five shooters from the Narrabri club attended.

It was a sensational weekend for Amanda Farr as she secured podium finishes in five of the six A-grade events and was crowned the A-grade high gun winner.

Event one was the 25-target cash divide, in which she was equal first with 25/25, and she was perfect again in the 50-target double barrel event three with 110/110 to win outright.

Event four was another 25-target cash divide, and Amanda again finished equal first with a 25/25 score, and she then finished second in event five, another 50-target double barrel, with 64/65.

Event six was the 25-target pointscore, in which she placed third with 73/75, and that saw her end the weekend with 269/275 to be crowned the A-grade high gun winner.

Amanda’s husband and club the NCTC president John Farr was also in action at that event. He placed third in A-grade in event two, which was the 50-target medley 25 double barrel and 25 single barrel with a score of 48/50.

Andrew Martin, Graham Baylis and Jessica Haverhoek also shot at that event.

Narrabri Clay Target Club then held its first monthly shoot of the year on Sunday, February 15, which was attended by 13 shooters who were competing for the 50-target continental double barrel club championship in event one. That was taken out by Andrew Martin, who was crowned open champion with 49/50.

The AA-grade winner was Amanda Farr with a score of 45/50, and Graham Baylis was second with 43/50. The A-grade winner was David Jackson with a score of 45/50, and Lightning Ridge’s Walter Friend was second with 43/50. Dean Thomson took out B-grade with 38/50, and the C-grade winner was Jayson Haverhoek with 41/50, with John Gould second in C-grade with 40/50.

There was a second event held at that event, which was a 75-target medley. Andrew Martin was the winner of that event as he made it two from two that day with a score of 119/125, with Moree’s Grant Lowien in second place with 113/125.

The A-grade winner was David Jackson with 115/125 ahead of Walter Friend in second with 110/125, the B-grade winner with 114/125 was Dean Thomson ahead of Barry Thomson coming in second with 102/125, and C-grade saw John Gould and Jayson Haverhoek contest a shoot-off after they both finished on 103/125, with Gould taking out the win.

John and Amanda Farr then travelled to shoot at the Inverell RSM Clay Target Club event on Saturday, February 21, with more success.

Amanda was crowned the event’s high gun winner after shooting 98/100 across the three events.

The first was the 50-target cash divide, which she finished equal first in AA-grade with 50/50, before she dropped just two shots in the next two events, which were the 25-target double barrel continental and the 25-target handicap.

John excelled in both of those events after taking out equal first in A-grade with 49/45 in event one. He won A-grade with 24/25 in event two and then placed second overall with 30/31 after a shoot-off in event three.
