Narrabri Stingrays Swimming Club was proudly represented at this year’s NSW Youth State Age Long Course Championships meeting when Charlie-Lea Hulbert lined up in three races at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre across the weekend.
The 11-year-old had earned three qualifying times this season, which saw her compete in the girls’ 11-years 50-metre freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke events.
The champion Stingray narrowly missed out on a personal best time in the freestyle event and then secured PBs in the backstroke and also in the breaststroke.
Charlie-Lea’s main goal for the weekend was to secure a top-30 place in the backstroke event, and she achieved that as she placed 24th in the state in that event.
The Stingray returned home with an exciting new experience, having competed against some of the best and brightest swimmers in the state.
Charlie-Lea will return to the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre next month when she lines up at the PSSA Schools State Championships.
