The Narrabri Golf Club’s 2026 Club Championships tournament began at the weekend, with rounds one and two contested on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

There were 74 golfers in action across the six divisions, with 17 lining up in men’s A-grade, 26 competing in men’s B-grade, 13 playing in men’s C-grade, four featuring in ladies’ A-grade, and seven in each of the ladies’ B-grade and C-grade divisions.

The 2025 ladies’ club champion Zoe Tomlinson will attempt to defend her title this year, and she got off to a fast start across the weekend to finish it 20 shots clear of Leisa Eather with two rounds remaining in ladies’ division one.

Tomlinson was the gross winner in the ladies’ division on both days as she shot 79 on Saturday and 86 on Sunday to total 165 after two rounds. That has left her on track to blow her 2025 winning score of 344 out of the water in 2026.

Eather was the gross runner-up on Saturday with 93 and went one better the following day with 92 to finish as runner-up with 185, while Sunday’s gross runner-up Louise Penberthy shot a 90 in round two after a 100 in round one to finish the weekend five shots behind Eather on 190.

Robyn Smith is 10 shots back from Penberthy on 200 after shooting a 98 and a 102.

The men’s defending champion Josh Orman is also in a great spot after two rounds. The 2025 winner was tied for the gross winner in round one on 73 alongside Karl Hatfield.

Hatfield, the three-time defending Narrabri Open champion, was the gross winner on Sunday as well as he shot another 73 to finish the weekend five clear of Orman, who shot 78 on Sunday, and Jye Manton, whose 74 on Saturday and 77 on Sunday saw him end the weekend level on 151 with Orman.

Veteran Keith Flood is next best on 152 after shooting 76 on both days, and eight-time club champion Adam Taylor is tied fifth on 155. Taylor had an off day on Saturday as he produced an 83 in round one, but he bounced back to shoot a round two gross winning score of 72 on Sunday to get right back in it.

Adam Smith is also on 155, and Blake Fielder is a shot behind them.

The 10 other golfers in the men’s A-grade division all sit outside 160 and have plenty of ground to make up on the leader.

The current men’s B-grade leader is Max Smith with 170, from Wayne Saunders on 171, and the current men’s C-grade leader is Hayden Smith with 176, from Drew Penberthy and Bob Taylor on 185.

Tied first in ladies’ division two are Chrissy Southwell and June Lang on 200, with Myra Joseph just behind on 202.

Kate Pitman leads the way in ladies’ division three with 209, followed by Joy Baker on 210.

Rounds three and four will be held this weekend.
