Just one Narrabri-trained pacer was in action at the weekend. That was Broken Ark which ran a place for Jarred Hetherington in Newcastle.

The three-year-old bay gelding raced for Hetherington for just the fourth time on Saturday and finished third in the 2030-metre TAB Live Vision Pace at the Broadmeadow track.

Broken Ark was driven by Mick Formosa and started from the number 10 barrier on the second row.

In a tight finish he finished less than two metres behind the Clayton Harmey-trained, Blake Hughes-driven winner Dolly’s On A Roll, and less than a metre behind the second-placed James Kennedy-trained-and-driven Marika Springfield.

That third-placed finish earned Broken Ark $780, taking his lifetime earnings to $25,310.

Since racing for Hetherington for the first time in Armidale back in March, Broken Ark has now had four starts for the Narrabri trainer.

The three-year-old has placed in the top three in three of those races, one of which he won on Thursday, April 23 in Tamworth.
