Narrabri police have issued a penalty infringement notice to a man after he allegedly failed to use a QR code check-in at a Cooma Road business on Tuesday, September 7.

Inspector Robert Dunn, officer-in-charge of the Narrabri Sector, confirmed with The Courier that the penalty was issued in relation to an investigation conducted regarding the movements of a COVID positive patient in the town.

As reported by The Courier previously, the positive case is no longer in Narrabri Shire.

The man was further treated in Tamworth after leaving Narrabri.

A local venue, the Cooma Road BP petrol station, was listed on the NSW government’s places of concern, however, police have continuously reassured the community that the exposure poses no risk to the public.

The positive COVID case who visited the venue was the last customer at the premises that night.

The venue, which underwent deep cleaning following the incident, poses no risk to the public in relation to that case.

Following police inquiries, a 31-year-old man was issued a $1000 PIN for fail to comply with electronic registration.

“Officers attached to Narrabri Police Station thank the local community for their support and would like to remind the public to continue to abide by the Public Health Orders,” Insp Dunn said.
