Wee Waa Golf Club held its annual golf trip ambrose event on Saturday, which was contested in hot conditions by 66 players across 17 teams.
The four-person ambrose event is one of the club’s biggest fundraisers and was supported by Gleeson Bangate, AgnVet and Nutrien Ag this year.
Club member Steve Gleeson does the majority of the organisation for the event to make it the great success that it always is, which club captain Ty Baker thanked him for.
Baker and fellow club captain David Avery told The Courier that it was an enjoyable day and a positive turnout.
The winning team with a score of 54-and-one-eighth included George Sedgwick, Jake Donaldson, Rob Bragg and Tom Dinham, who scored a $2000 voucher to book a golfing holiday at a venue of their choosing. They narrowly defeated Brock Smith, Jye Manton, Ben Finnigan and David McInnes, who placed second with a score of 55-and-a-half after shooting the best gross score of the day, which was 62.
In third place were Nathan Hamblin, Greg Avery, Tom Carberry and Ray Nixon with a score of 56-and-five-eighths, and in fourth place were Matt, Dean and Jayden Hamblin and David Avery also with a score of 56-and-five-eighths.
The team of Ben Russell, Les Ross, Luke Humphries and Chris Hartnett finished in seventh place on the day, but they also had the best gross score as they shot a 62. However, they had the lowest combined handicap at the event and that worked against them on the nett scoreboard.
The nearest to pin winners were AJ Hall (14th), Jared Russell (15th) and Zack Doring (ninth), and longest drive winners were Jackson Humphries (junior), Jye Manton (men 19-55) and Doug Orman (men 56-plus).
