Some of the nation’s best golfers will arrive in Narrabri this week as they prepare to contest the final Women’s NSW Open Golf regional qualifying event at the Narrabri Golf Club.

The Golfie’s 18-hole course is in pristine condition thanks to the hard work of local club members and the local businesses who have sponsored this week’s event.

The three-day qualifying round of the Women’s NSW Open will begin on Thursday and will wrap up with the final day’s play on Saturday.

Narrabri is the last of six centres to host a $50,000 qualifying series event after the tour previously touched down in Mollymook, Wagga Wagga, Duntryleague, Bathurst, Dubbo.

There are two spots up for grabs in the 2024 championship to be held at the magnificent Magenta Shores Golf and Country Club Resort on the NSW Central Coast later this month.

Club Narrabri CEO Paul Gordon is looking forward to the event arriving in Narrabri and he thanked all of the local sponsors who have helped make it possible.

“We’ve got 50 professional golfers coming when we initially thought we were going to get 36,” Mr Gordon said.

“We’re extremely excited. It’s the biggest thing to happen at the Golf Club in probably 30 years as far as an event is concerned.

“We’re very hopeful that it will be a three-year event.

“We’ve had really good support from local business houses and council as well.”

To add to the excitement of the event, there are two $10,000 hole-in-one prizes on the eighth and 16 holes during Saturday’s play, which will be broadcast live on Kayo Sports.

There will also be a chip-shot shoot out on the 18th hole and a putt for cash competition as well.

Narrabri Golf Club’s 18-hole course has been prepared to perfection to host this week’s three -day golf tournament.
Volunteer club members have been busy in the weeks leading up to the big tournament with the assistance of Narrabri Shire Council workers in bringing the course to readiness. The club will welcome an influx of top golfers, their family members and friends.
First time visitors to the course will be impressed and regular patrons will be proud of the presentation of the playing areas and the ‘Golfies’ club house.
Volunteers have been trimming trees, raking and generally tidying up – the course is ‘a picture’, as the saying goes, and the Golfie – and Narrabri – is poised for a fantastic event.
