Narrabri Clay Target Club hosted its annual King of Kaputar shoot across the weekend, which was attended by 86 competitors who travelled from as far as Southern Queensland to the Victorian border and all across NSW to vie for the record prize money.
The weather was windy and cool across the two days, which had all of the shooters on their toes, and the intermittent cloud cover early in the morning made the target quite difficult to see and follow.
The club told The Courier that their programme went ahead without a hitch, and that traps, trapper boys, members and volunteers were exceptional.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all volunteers who helped make the weekend a huge success,” a club statement said.
“Also, the many sponsors, who without their support, it would be difficult to hold the King of Kaputar shoot to make it the success it was.
“We received many accolades from contestants who enjoyed the shoot and said they will be back next year.”
There were six events contested at this year’s event, and it was Guyra’s Brad Henshall who won the overall high gun with a score of 292/300.
The first three events were shot on Saturday and events four, five and six were shot on Sunday.

Event one – 30 Target Medley (10 targets each of double barrel, single barrel and points score), sponsored by B&W Rural and Tyre Right Narrabri:
