Helen Woodward, Di Chessells, Lyn Tuckey and Dave Dewar are Narrabri Bowling Club’s mixed fours champs for the 2023/24 campaign following a four-shot victory on Saturday.
They met Lyn Wedesweiler, Ron Ryan, Stuart Coleman and Eva Sadler in the final and prevailed 19-15.
Woodward, Chessells, Tuckey and Dewar got off to a flying start as they won the first six ends to lead 10-0. Wedesweiler, Ryan, Coleman and Sadler then won 10 of the remaining 15 ends, but their slow start was too much to overcome as Woodward, Chessells, Tuckey and Dewar got the job done.
In a semi-final of the losers’ section of the mixed fours comp, Kay Carolan, Janice Foxe, Cindy Neil and Graham Rose edged out Anthony Welchman, Bec Taylor, Ian Macmillan and Scott Dewar in a very close game, with the final score being 16-15.
There were two Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club pairs matches played on Saturday as well.
Janet Coleman and Cecile defeated Janice Foxe and Di Chessells 23-16, while Eva Sadler and Lisa Pillar beat Gloria Campey (sub for Lyn Wedesweiler) and Dawn Armstrong 24-13.
There will be no club games played this Saturday due to Narrabri being in action in men’s and women’s pennants matches across the weekend, but there will be a Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club pairs contest played on Thursday between the team of Berice Eather and Ronnie Dewar and the team of Glennis Godden and Kay Carolan.
Two more pairs games have been scheduled for Saturday, September 28, which are as follows:
Janet Coleman and Cecile v Eva Sadler and Lisa Pillar; Helen Woodward and Marie Redman v the winner of the Dewar/Carolan game that will be played on Thursday.
