North West Bowls’ 2025/26 season mixed gender pennants season will get underway this Saturday, and both Narrabri Bowling Club and Wee Waa Bowling Club have named strong sides for their respective trips to Gunnedah.
Wee Waa have been placed into grade four this season alongside Club Gunnedah and two South Tamworth Bowling Club teams.
Wee Waa will travel to Gunnedah for their first match this Saturday while the South Tamworth Gold and South Tamworth Green outfits meet in a local derby.
There is only one section in that grade, which will see the team that finishes first on the ladder go straight through to the state finals.
All teams will play against one another twice across six rounds, with Wee Waa to host South Tamworth Green in round two before travelling to challenge South Tamworth Gold in round three.
They will then play at home, away and home, respectively, in rounds four, five and six.
Narrabri have been placed into grade six this season and are in the first of three sections with Club Gunnedah, Bingara and Manilla.
They too will play away at Gunnedah in round one this Saturday before hosting their first match at home in the second round when they welcome Manilla to town.
They will then play away against Bingara in the third round before they also play at home, away and home, respectively, in rounds four, five and six.
Section two of grade six includes Inverell Sporties, Walcha, North Tamworth and Kootingal, and section three is made up of Tamworth City, West Tamworth, South Tamworth and Werris Creek.
The teams that finish on top of each of the three section ladders will meet in a playoff at a neutral venue in May to determine who goes through to the state finals.
For both Narrabri and Wee Waa, their last round games will be played on Saturday, March 28, after a weekend off on March 21 between rounds five and six.
The two clubs’ team lists for this Saturday’s round one games are as follows:
Wee Waa – Chris Crutcher, Kevin Baker, Zack Doring and Ty Baker; Ben Russell, Bruce Cowan, Toby Reynolds and Trinity Kelly; Cody Booby, Jay Hall, Peter Doring and Steve Berger. Manager – Phil Lawford.
