It’s been a busy on the golf course in Narrabri, with Joy Baker, Blake Fielder and a host of other players producing strong performances across a series of Stableford, par and medley events.
Wednesday’s ladies 18-hole Stableford on 12 August belonged to Baker, who carded an impressive 40 points to take the win. Meryl Nolan finished runner-up on 34 points, while Baker also claimed the nearest-the-pin prize on the 12th.
The Wednesday nine-hole Stableford medley saw Bill Lang take top honours with 23 points. Tony Meppem finished second on 20 points after winning the countback.
Attention turned to the 18-hole par medley on Saturday 15 August, with close competition across all three grades.
In A-grade, Blake Fielder claimed victory on -2, edging Kane Voysey on the countback after both players finished on the same score. Adam Taylor was third on -3.
David Noble produced the standout performance in B-grade, finishing on +2 to take the title. Wayne Saunders was runner-up on even par, with Richard Miller third on -2. In C-grade, Ingrid Moulds dominated with an impressive +6 to finish a shot clear of Karen Fenton, who recorded +5. Melissa Hall completed the podium on +4.
The day’s nearest-the-pin honours went to Moulds on the fifth, Taylor on the eighth, Fenton on the 12th and Noble on the 16th.
On Sunday 16 August, it was another nine-hole Stableford medley. Shannon Rily and Lisa Kelly both finished on 20 points, with Rily taking the win on countback.
With several tight finishes and strong scoring throughout the week, the results showcased plenty of competitive golf across the field.
The Narrabri Lions Club charity four-person Ambrose will be played this Sunday.
