The Crossing Theatre was the venue for a two day conference which brought together 30 health care professionals, GPs and administrators, from the north west region, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne on the weekend.
The presenter was Dr Caroline West, one of Australia’s best-known ‘media doctors’ working in general practice for more than 25 years. She is the GP expert for ninemsn and has written regularly for the Sun Herald and Australian Doctor. Currently Dr West is the presenter of Catalyst and Ask the Doctor on ABC TV.
The conference theme was ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing’.
“Living in a rural community can have a range of impacts on mental health, organisers said.
The conference was aimed at helping participants to better support patients and look after their mental health in this challenging environment.
