A small band of ladies met this month to discuss a Cancer Council NSW fundraiser that has been missing from Narrabri in recent years and decided it’s time to revive a Cancer Council fundraising garden tea in the township.

Narrabri’s Biggest Morning Tea will be held in Selina Street on Thursday May 27, from 9.30am until midday, serving tea and coffee and delicious fare throughout the morning.

The committee will welcome locals to gather and join the quest to reach a set target in raising funds for this worthwhile cause.

Due to difficulties with organising gatherings throughout 2020, Cancer Council NSW is currently a huge $9 million behind in fundraising efforts.

“Last year we put a lot of work into our garden for our daughter’s wedding.

“I recently saw a promotion for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea by Cancer Council NSW, and I thought hosting an event would be a wonderful way to share the garden with others,” Narrabri’s Biggest Morning Tea event coordinator Helen Southwell said.

“We all know someone who has been touched by cancer in some way.

“I am a cancer survivor, so for me it is important to support organisations working to find a cure and assist those who are affected by cancer.

“We have set a target of $2000 for the event.

“For those who are unable to attend on the day, online donations can be made by visiting our Facebook page and clicking this link.

“Alternatively, cash donations can be made ahead of time at Yield for those who are unable to attend on the day or donate online,” she said.

“Most importantly we want to see as many as possible join us on the day.

“We have lots of fun in store with an appetising morning tea, local stalls and a cake competition for those who didn’t win at the Narrabri Show!”
