Baan Baa singer-songwriter, Sarah Leete, has taken on a new role with MusicNSW.

A new program by the organisation, which focuses on regional music development, has seen seven new regional music officers appointed across the state.

Ms Leete has taken on the role for north west NSW, which covers Armidale, Tamworth and surrounds.

The aim for these new officers is to host networking events, conduct surveys and censuses and facilitate communication and collaboration between artists, venues, industry professionals and councils in their area.

As a Baan Baa local, Ms Leete holds a wealth of knowledge about the Narrabri Shire in particular.

With her, Ms Leete brings over seven years of experience as an independent musician, including a project she undertook in Wee Waa just last month.

She’s toured locally, regionally and interstate and believes this background will help her in the new role.

“I am thrilled to be working with MusicNSW,” Ms Leete said.

“As an original alt-country artist, I know all too well the challenges faced in regional areas when it comes to the creation and performance of original music.”

Ms Leete is keen to do her bit to help other artists in the area.

“I hope to foster connections within the music community and help local emerging talent to develop their material and performance skills,” she said.

“I am looking forward to working closely with artists and stakeholders to improve our original music scene.”
