An online fundraiser has been launched to support a family impacted by a fatal house fire near Baan Baa.

The blaze claimed the life of Scott Keeley who was a butcher by trade and worked at a Narrabri store before gaining permanent work with a local freight business.

Scott’s sister-in-law, Kim Keeley, said the family had suffered an unimaginable tragedy.

“Scott was a dearly loved father to his two children and devoted poppy to his two granddaughters,” she said.

“The family have lost their home and all their belongings which perished in the inferno.”

Mrs Keeley launched an appeal on online fundraising platform GoFundMe to support Scott’s family in the wake of his tragic death.

“All donations will be administered to the children and go towards funeral expenses and basic essentials, especially his son who lived with Scott and has lost everything to find a home, furnishings and future essentials needed for their families,” she said.

Scott has been remembered as someone who adored life in the country, only wanted for the simple things and was happy to provide for his family.

“Scott had a big heart and would often put others before himself,” Mrs Keeley said.

“He was a devoted family man who adored his children, grandchildren, parents, siblings and their families.

“He fancied a few coldies at the local at times and hanging with mates exchanging stories of their adventures on the land.”

The family has extended its thanks to the emergency services that responded to the fire and to neighbours and locals who have rallied together to support them.

“Our sincere appreciation and thank you to all friends and community members who have donated food, clothing and temporary accommodation and who continue to provide tremendous support in the days and weeks ahead,” Mrs Keeley said. To support the appeal, click here.
