An enthusiastic and energetic crowd played at the Wee Waa Ladies’ Golf Open on Sunday.

“Everyone had a very enjoyable day,” said Ladies’ captain Anne Henry.

“We do only have a small band of ladies in Wee Waa but we really appreciated the support from the Narrabri players who came out.”

Mrs Henry said it was a team event and everyone played in pairs with the outstanding duo of Kate Knight and Rhonda Palmer winning the nett, the main event of the day, and Lauren Baguley and Peg Penberthy claiming the runners-up position.

Winners of the gross were Gail Richardson and Chrissy Southwell and runners-up were Joy Baker and Robin Ford.

Mrs Henry said the players were thrilled the golf day could go ahead with COVID restrictions in place, and attendees stayed for a meal and catch-up after play.

“We had a lovely lunch made by Annie Miguel,” said Mrs Henry.

“It’s definitely a social thing, of course – the golf is important, but the main thing is the companionship and sheer joy of being outside and enjoying each other’s company.”
