The local VIEW Club, which gathers regularly to raise funds for The Smith Family, celebrated Christmas in July late last month.

On Wednesday, July 28, members met at the Narrabri RSL Club for their monthly meeting and a special baked lunch.

One significant matter discussed at the meeting was VIEW’s latest proposed resolutions, which include; safe and affordable housing for women and children; better support for students for their post-school futures; and reduce the use of plastic to assist the environment.

The local ladies voted on the resolutions, as did the other VIEW members across Australia.

This represents the sixth step of ten in the resolution process, which culminates in call-to-action letters sent to the relevant government departments.

The seventh step, returning and recording the votes, is followed by VIEW’s national convention.

The 2021 convention is set to be held in Adelaide, pending COVID restrictions, where members will hold final debates and votes on the resolutions.

“Since the Narrabri team won’t be able to travel to Adelaide, we’ve done our voting at today’s meeting,” VIEW member Noeline Kiss explained.

“And we’ve paired it with our Christmas in July lunch, a celebration we hold each year.”

The ongoing pandemic has impacted VIEW members, as is the case with many local clubs.

“Some of our members have been reluctant to come out to meetings due to health concerns,” Mrs Kiss said.

“But we’re very lucky here in Narrabri, where no local people have been infected so far.”

“And we’re so grateful to have a venue like the RSL Club, which graciously allows us to continue holding our meetings and lunches here.”
