Drugs and cash were among items seized at various locations across Narrabri after officers from Oxley Police District executed search warrants.

In total, one-kilogram of cannabis was seized along with more than $9000.

The four search warrants were executed between September 9 and 10.

Police have said the various searches were each unrelated.

On September 9, 4.6 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia was seized from a Smythe Avenue address.

On the same day, 450 grams of cannabis and $6340 was retrieved from a Park Crescent property.

A 42-year-old man was charged in relation to this seizure.

He was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, one count of supply prohibited drug (greater than small but less than indictable) and one count of deal with property proceeds of crime.

The man will appear in Narrabri Local Court on September 28.

On September 10, 14.5 grams of cannabis was seized from a Maitland Street address.

On the same day, police attended a Hinds Street property and seized 650 grams of cannabis, a suspected prohibited knife, steroids, more than $3000 and various other items.

Break-and-enters in Wee Waa

Two unknown male people attempted to gain entry to a George Wilson Avenue home in Wee Waa between 9.15pm and 9.40pm on September 10.

The victim, a 64-year-old woman, was in the home at the time when the power went off. She heard knocks on the front door and then loud hitting on the back door.

When police arrived at the scene, they found holes burnt into the gauze of the back door.

On the same evening, a break-and-enter was reported at a Boundary Street property in Wee Waa.

The victim, an 80-year-old woman, reported to police that one man was in her lounge room.

Persons of interest are believed to have gained entry to the property via the laundry or kitchen.

Upon the victim sighting the offender, he ran through the kitchen and fled the scene.

In relation to the recent incidents in Wee Waa, Inspector Robert Dunn said police were working to develop strategies and to address the issue.

“As we did before, we know this is out of the ordinary,” he said.

“The community is urged, if they have any information, to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.”

Cattle yard panels stolen from Baan Baa

The theft of cattle yard panels from a Kamilaroi Highway property was reported to police.

Police suspect that 30 cattle yard panels were stolen from the rural address between August 20 and September 10.

Bin set on fire at vacant Hinds Street property

A vacant home at Hinds Street received minor damage after a bin was set alight between 3.50am and 4.50am on September 12.

Police said it appeared that the bin had been deliberately set ablaze against one of the home’s piers.

The intense heat and flames damaged a portion of the residence, however, police said the damage was not of a significant nature.

Fire crews attended the scene and put out the blaze.

Additional break-and-enters in Narrabri, Wee Waa

Unknown persons gained entry to a Gibbons Street home in Narrabri between 2pm on September 11 and 5pm on September 15.

Cash was stolen from the property.

Earlier in the month, a vacant premises at Maitland Street, Wee Waa, was broken into between 12pm on September 2 and 12pm on September 5.

Unknown persons gained entry to this site by kicking down a back door.

No items were reported as stolen.

On September 11, a break-and-enter was reported at a Peele Street property between 1.45am and 1.48am.

The victim, a 79-year-old woman, reported that a male had appeared inside her home.

The offender stole a handbag and fled the property.

Police were immediately notified following the incident and upon arriving at the scene discovered that a back door had been forced open.

The woman described the offender to police as a six-foot tall male of large build, aged between 17 and 18 years of age, who was wearing a black hoodie, face mask, black pants and black shoes.
