Two online fundraisers have collectively raised more than $44,000 to support accomplished campdrafter Kane Drayton.

Mr Drayton was injured in July after falling four metres when a verandah railing gave way.

He was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, where it was discovered he had fractured his back in three places.

Mr Drayton has had surgery, however, the injuries sustained to his T12 vertebrae are quite severe, and he has been told he could be unable to walk again.

The organiser of one of the fundraisers on the GoFundMe website, Rachel Bruniera, said the money raised would support Kane and his family for the long road ahead.

Ms Bruniera’s fundraiser is titled ‘Let’s help Kane get back in the saddle’.

“If we can lessen the burden felt of being so far away from home, and the costs that follow, that will help enormously,” she said.

“Kane has told me he is up for this challenge, and if we can all get behind this young man and support him, that would be amazing.”

After being airlifted to Sydney, Mr Drayton was in the Royal North Shore Hospital intensive care unit but has since been moved to a ward where he is likely to spend the next couple of months.

Both fundraisers are on the GoFundMe website.
