Narrabri Tennis hosted a July school holiday clinic at Dangar Park Tennis Centre last week, where future stars learned many aspects of the sport and did so while battling tricky conditions.
Narrabri Tennis’ head coach and clinic director Shane Murphy told The Courier that the youngsters adapted well and enjoyed a fun four days.
“We had a bit of everything during the week,” Murphy said.
“It was cold, it rained, I’m sure it even snowed, it was windy, and the sun came out at times.
“Overall, it was still a fantastic week.
“Numbers were a little bit lower than normal, but there were a few other things on during the week, there was sickness going around and I think the weather kept a few away.
“On Monday, we went through forehands, rallies and introduction to ball skills, racquets and footwork, and in the afternoon we put our matchplay into play.
“Tuesday, we did a bit of forehand revision, went into backhands and we kept our rallies going.
“Wednesday was our rainy day and we got stuck inside for most of it. We did a bit of indoor tennis, Wii Sport and we had a few out the back playing pickle ball.
“Thursday, we held some matches and did serves, and then we had our party and presentation to finish it off.”
The normal Narrabri Tennis weekly coaching schedule resumed this week, and the 2024 Narrabri RMS event will be held on Sunday, August 18.
