Narrabri’s local Australian Rules Football Club the Narrabri Eagles will host its final home game for season 2021 this Saturday – and it is going out with a bang.

The club’s annual ladies’ day event will headline the day at Leitch Oval when the Narrabri Eagles Moree Suns joint venture side takes on Tamworth Kangaroos in the 14th round of the AFLNW season.

The Narrabri and Moree ladies will challenge the Kangaroos from midday before the Eagles-Suns’ men’s match against the competition’s ladder leaders gets underway from 2pm.

The Narrabri club is hoping a large crowd will descend on the ‘Eagles’ Nest’ to cheer both teams to victory.

They are both currently running last on their respective ladders but are determined to go out on a high during what will be their last home games of the season.

They will play their 15th and final matches the following week away from home against Gunnedah.

In round 13, the NEMS men’s side was forced to forfeit its match against New England Nomads due to player availability while the women’s side hosted the Nomads in Moree.

The match was scheduled to be played in Armidale but was moved due to weather.

The two teams were forced to share the points after the match finished as a 4.2 (26) to 3.8 (26) draw.

The hosts led 3.5 (23) to 3.2 (20) at three-quarter-time, but could only manage three behinds in the final term while the Nomads kicked a fourth goal.
