Kevin Baguley and Trinity Kelly are the Narrabri Sporties’ men’s bowls Club Pairs champions for 2021.

Baguley and Kelly defeated Paul Crutcher and Dave Dewar 25-12 in the final played at the John McNamara Owen Campey Green on Saturday afternoon.

Dewar and Crutcher claimed the first end to go ahead by one shot, but that was the last time they would lead in the 21-end match.

The score was 2-all on the third end, before Baguley and Kelly scored a three on the fourth to take a 5-2 lead.

They were up 12-3 after 10 ends of play, having claimed seven of the opening 10 ends.

Crutcher and Dewar scored a four on the 11th end to reduce the deficit to five shots as the scoreboard read 12-7, however, Baguley and Kelly won seven of the remaining 10 ends a combined 13 points to five as they ran away to an eventual 13-shot victory.

The first semi-final of Narrabri Sporties’ Senior Pairs competition was also contested on Saturday.

David Briggs and Anthony Welchman defeated Ron Ryan and Len Ryan 21-18 in that match.

Men’s bowls matches to be played on Saturday, August 7, are as follows:

Senior Pairs semi-final at 9.30am:
Laurie Gilbert and Paul Crutcher v Graham Rose and Tony Redman.

Club Triples at 1.30pm:
Ron Ryan, Bob Cantrill and Kevin Baguley v Anthony Welchman, Preston Clark and Norm Walford.
