On September 26, a special celebration was in order for Whiddon Robert Young resident Doris Hall.

Mrs Hall’s son Len Hall and her daughter Edith ‘Sister’ Dewson were with her to enjoy three birthday cakes on the occasion of her 101st birthday.

Doris can trace her family history back to when her grandfather, Barnham Waters arrived in Australia in 1863 on board the ship ‘Shackmaxon’.

It was in the 1890s that Barnham Waters, together with this wife Emma and their family moved to the Narrabri region, settling in Baan Baa.

Doris married Dan Hall in 1938 and together they raised four children, Sidney (dec), Edith ‘Sister’, Leonard (Len) and Doreen.

A proud grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Mrs Hall celebrated with Len and Edith sharing many memories.
